I’m Logan McDonald, Senior Broadcast Production Specialist and Cloud Product Prime for Ross Production Services. I’ve been with Ross since 2016, and was with the Carolina Hurricanes from 2013 until joining Ross.

My primary role when I joined Ross in 2016 was to operate XPression and associate producer for events across a large set of college sports and boxing. From there, I grew to other roles in the truck including replay, technical director, director, and producer. My primary event role for the last 4-5 years has been director, and I will also often TD the events I direct.

I have directed/technical directed or produced over 350 linear broadcasts in last 6 years, across all ESPN networks, CBS/CBSSN, NBCSN/USA, FS1, beIN, and PPV. Sports have included college football, basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, as well as hockey, boxing, and esports.

Throughout 2020, I headed up development for Ross PS on a web platform that lead us through COVID in a number of different forms. The Ross Production Portal was a full solution allowing our productions to take any form of remote or hybrid production models very flexibly. The platform integrates ultra-low-latency video for technicians to monitor a production as well as built in contribution solutions for remote talent.

Building on the above, I developed a custom solution for College GameDay to enable “mass-contribution” — this allowed hundreds of fans to log on to a website, without downloading any apps, and have their camera presented as a part of College GameDay in their season without fans in 2020. Any number of production staff was able to approve or disapprove of the live shot of a fan, adding or removing that shot from mosaics instanteously.
